I don't know if this is something that bothers people on KR, but...
Freddy commented, but google translate don't know what a "munsmack" is  :)

A-HA!  Thanks, Robblar... I'm sure I've missed a LOT more than just the munsmack! ;)

Tokai!  This has a really interesting sound - "Layed back" but driving forward... And, sorry, Emu, my friend, but I kind of like the third verse and the growly-thing synth.  :)I have one comment, and I hesitate to even mention it this late in the game.... Properly stated "It looks I'm here to stay" should be "It looks like I'm here to stay"...

I shouldn't have said anything.... I'm sorry....

What a lovely tune, Plinka! I could sing this to my daughter before bedtime... I think that the intrumentation is very nice, and I like the synth there.  Very soothing, a sweet little melody and a nice message.  I don't know if this is something that bothers people on KR, but... I belong to another music forum and the people there would not want to hear "mouth sounds" (like a small click when you open your mouth to sing).  They would advise you to cut them out of the vocal track.  Me, I don't mind so much... but it's just something I noticed a tiny bit.  Hope you don't mind me saying so.

Oh, I love the drum rolls there on the end - and Kornstad, your voice is so so very nice.  The harmonies are just wonderful.
Beautifully written and performed.  Nice job!

hahaha, oh my god.. I was wondering how my comment would look like in english if I used google translate and... I laughed out loud! It looks as I´m drunk, I'm not
[/quote]

Asa, Your comment is so funny because you are not the only one.... You ALL sound drunk through the translators!

Jag tvivlar starkt att jag låter bättre än du, men, så var inte oroa dig för det. Det är bra att jag är kreativ och kan oftast linda mig runt konstiga sätt översättarna ordet saker!

Tack for listening - I haven't had a chance to sing like that in a looooong time.  :)

Wow.

That's all I can say.... The ending just gives me chills and shivers.

Im so sorry that I don't know Swedish, but so many of you seem to speak English very well... Please forgive me and know that I *do* speak a second language.  It just isn't Swedish... but it does start with an "S" (at least it does in English).

Anyway.  I came to this forum at the suggestion of a friend from another music form - he and I had collaborated on a song, which he then posted here for comments.  It was his idea that I join KR - so that I could say a proper "Thank you" to those who had commented.  By the time I signed in, I'd already been nicknamed "Bacon McMuffin, or whatever her name is"... and "Bacon" seemed as good a username as any.

I may not post much of my own music here - I'm a singer and not a great composer or sound engineer - but I am enjoying the quality of music I've heard here.  It is hard for me to translate every page - it's a pretty s-l-o-w process - but I do try to listen and make comments where I can.

Thanks for letting me listen.....
Julianna

Oh, I'm glad you introduced yourself to me through PM... it made me listen to this song!  Wow.  First of all, your English is practically perfect.  In fact, if I did know beforehand (before I listened), I would not have given the language a second thought - so natural.  Really love the breakout chorus near the end.  I find this copmletely original, actually, and not boring at all.  Things don't have to be "Sturm und drang" to be interesting... This is so pleasant and smooth - but the lyrics are written to bite.  Which I like.  Good to meet you, Freddy!

(And to meet everyone else as well... and I'm so sorry that I can't listen to as many songs as I'd like to - it's incredibly difficult to work with the translation pages and keep my place on the forum and my place in a song!  Takes me twice as long as it should.  So I'll try to make comments and to listen, but it IS hard!  Here's the thing... the quality of music here is FAR ABOVE what I'm used to.  In fact, I'm rather embarrassed with myself...)

I have listened to both versions, and Freddy's mix is an improvement.  But I still think it's too much treble - I only wish I was better at mixing to be able to say what to do about it!  But, I'm just a singer.... and from that perspective, I DO like the song.  I agree!  Feels like Little Stevie (Bruce SPringsteen's band) is playing on it!  Which is fine in my book.  Me being an American girl and all that...  ;)

Hmmmm... "Less Reverb" version does sound "closer"... but to my ears, it's also more "Bright" than "Warm".  Of course, it's Spring, so brightness works as well as warmth, I think.  I don't find fault with either one, though.  It's a personal choice.  And I love the birds.  Are they a "found recording" or something you had a sample of?

I can't understand a word of it... but it's lovely.  The piano work is excellent and it just feels nice to listen.  Maybe not like other Chrome songs I've heard, but why should it be?  Nice work on this - I'll keep an eye out for the Translation!   ;)

/Marre
Oh NO!  You are a language teacher??  It's probably best that the Spanish is difficult to hear, then...   I will send this to a Spanish Speaking friend soon, so that he can tell me if I sound like a "Hillbilly" (I'm from that area of the US, so that is VERY possible).  He actually helped me with the translation, too, so I'm sure he'd be glad to critique it.  Thank you all!

Maybe a *little* "Oh, Happy Day" (how is that you know so many American folk songs?  I wouldn't think that this one would be known in Sweden), but that's okay.  I WISH I could play keys like that!  Nice GROWL on the vox, there, Mikael! Is this about the Alligator, then?  English crit... Should be "Spend my nights in the woodS"  Just a thought.  You let me know if you want some choral ooohs and ahhs on there.... :)

"Purr and Simple!"  HA!  While I speak Spanish, I don't speak any language (other than English) well enough to make puns or jokes! I'm so impressed with how well everyone here writes in English.  Sorry to be a stupid American.  Stereotypically (using a Stereotype), we're too "Ameri-centric" to learn another language.  Although I'm sure that there are plenty of Americans who would say that they don't need to learn another language because so many people in the world speak English.  Seems unfair to me, though...

And I thought that sound I heard was just my neighbor's cat screaming at my dog..... I guess it *was* in the song.  (HeeHee).

I just hope no one will ever translate what emulatorkattgitarrsolo means in english. I still van put on a brave face in front of one person in this forum

All that I need is a translation for "cat" or "katt" as it was also written....  ;)  Oh, and don't worry about using "bad" language.  I'm not easily offended in English or in Swedish.

I would label this Alternative Rock in the United States... And, it's *really* great.  I think the beginning/intro guitars could be just a little "crunchier" (harder/edgy).  They sound a little "pretty" for the rest of the song.  But I *love* the way it moves into another feel at around :50.  Has a Blink 182 feel to it.  Nice job!

I listened to Larger v2.... "Love came like Springtime" - my favorite line & what a GREAT image.  The intimate ending is just really nice, too.  I think I will stick around here a while.  I'm hearing very different things than I hear in the states, and it's really refreshing!

Hi Dividend - I'm trying to "give back" to the forum after so many people made comments on the song I did with EQ... And it seems that you are the first in line.

I was not expecting the guitars to come in!  That was the first of many surprises - so many textures developing here, a lot to take in, but you seem to have brought it together nicely.  Very "Film Score"... Something "sci-fi/end of the world with the hope of rebirth" kind of thing... and nicely executed.  I'm still a beginner when it comes to mixing, so I can't really help you there (and it seems you are mostly finished with this, anyway)... but I did notice some possible distortion near 3:12 with a swelling of the synths - and then again when the same swell happens toward the end.  But!  I was listening with my headphones (they aren't the best, but not cheap, either), so it may have been my headphones and not the music...

Maria sent me a link to her myspace, and I listened to a couple of pieces there that the two of you collaborated on.... Very nice and interesting work!

Sorry I don't have more constructive things to say - I'm "just a singer!" - But I do like a variety of styles and used to be a dj....

Oh, I think the Yellow-hatted marmot (I thought it was a guinea pig) is fun.  I wouldn't EVER make fun of a whole country based on only one person's silly avatar.  Besides, I had several friends in High School that were from Sweden, so I know better - things like, all Swedes are on the High School Swim Team like my friends were.   Right?  ;)  Oh, I'm only kidding...

Thank you all for your kind comments - It is so much fun to know that someone is listening to me so far away!

When I use my translator, the translated page is not logged in to the forum... So, to participate and be logged in, I have to paste text back and forth in another translation engine... so forgive me if I don't respond to every comment.  It's quite difficult, not even knowing which button to click to respond (but I think I have it now)!

EQ suggested that I post my work here as well.  I'm not certain that I really should.  Not being a Swedish speaker, I don't know that I would be a great addition to the forum, but maybe.... I regularly participate in the Cakewalk Sonar Songs Forum, and I know that no one wants to listen to someone who doesn't make good comments on other people's music.  But if you don't mind if I'm not quite as active as the rest of you, maybe I will.

No need to write in English... I have a translator.  :)

Thank you for all of your comments - Yes I know that my voice is heavy on the vibrato (I'm classically trained), and that there are parts of this song that sound as if I don't know where I'm going with the next note.  It's really more that I don't have great control of my "chest voice" than not being familiar with the song.  I really did practice, I promise!  :)

I should mention that I've told EQ several times how much I Really, Really like Kornstaad's original version.  So personal and intimate!  I knew that EQ was wanting to hear this song a little differently, and that's what I tried to give him.  This is not my first collaboration, but it's by far my favorite.

Thank you all for listening and commenting.

Cheers!
Julianna
